Mary Francis (Oenning) Hoaglin

Mary Frances (Oenning) Hoaglin age 82, of Columbus, IL died on Sunday, May 7, 2017 in Blessing Hospital. She was born September 2, 1934 in LaGrange, MO a daughter of Arthur & Bertha (Reeder) Oenning. She married John Freeman Hoaglin on May 27, 1955 in Quincy and he survives.
Mary was a graduate of Camp Point High School. Prior to her marriage, she worked at the former Quincy Paper Box and Quincy Speaker. She was a homemaker, who loved gardening and her flowers. She liked to go fishing and camping. Mary’s pastimes included playing cards and collecting salt and pepper shakers.
In addition to her husband, survivors also include her children, Michael John Hoaglin and his wife Mary of Libertyville, IL; and Mary Sue McMahon and her husband Steve of East Galesburg, IL; a sister, Hazel Brown of St. Patrick, MO; two grandchildren, Aubrey Magee and her husband Greg of Knoxville, IL and Stephanie McMahon and her fiancée Dan McVey of Galesburg, IL; three great-grandchildren, Kelsie and Tessa Magee and Hallack McVey. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Violet Farr; Virginia Ellery; Dale, Wilbur and Larry Oenning.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment will be in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at Duker & Haugh.
