Mary Ellen Lohman
Mary Ellen Lohman, age 74, of Quincy, died on Thursday, December 7, 2017 in Blessing Hospital. She was born on March 11, 1943 in Quincy the daughter of Clarence and Edith (Schaick) Kurk. She married Robert J. Lohman on May 25, 1963 in St. Joseph Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on September 30, 2017.
Mary Ellen was a tax preparer with the family business, Lohman Data Processing, Inc. for over 50 years.
She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Ladies society of the church. She was a member of the Independent Accountants Association of IL. She enjoyed camping at Bay View Camp Ground in Hannibal, MO for over 30 years. Mary Ellen also liked the water classes at the YMCA, gardening and bird watching. Many stray dogs and cats found their way into Mary Ellen’s heart and home. All were found loving families.
She is survived by three sons, Edward “Ed” J. Lohman (Terrie) of Quincy, David A. Lohman (Tonia) of St. Louis, MO and Kenneth Lohman of Quincy; four grandchildren, Nicole Hoosier (Clinton) of Quincy, Morgan Goehl (Tyler) of Wichita, KS, Jessica Lohman of St. Louis, MO and Samantha Lohman of St. Louis, MO; two siblings: Alvin C. (Carlene) Kurk and Sister Maretta Kurk, O.S.F.
Mrs. Lohman was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Carol Anne Lohman, a sister: Lila J. Fredericks and a brother in law: Junior A. Fredericks.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 10:00 AM in St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Tom Donovan officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Church.
