Mary Elizabeth Mirande Scheufele

Mary Elizabeth Mirande Scheufele, 89, of 907 Hillside Ct., died on Monday October 14, 2013 at Bickford of Quincy. She was born on May 25, 1924 in Ilasco, MO, daughter of Joseph and Santa (Cambrae) Mirande. She married Charles E. Scheufele on January 5, 1947 in Ilasco, MO. He survives.
Mary worked at Motorola Company in Quincy for 19 years. She then worked at Blessing Hospital for 16 years until her retirement in 1989.
She was previously a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and spent the last several years as a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. She was a volunteer at Blessing Hospital, enjoyed camping, cooking her favorite Italian recipes, and spending time with her family. She was proud to be “Nana” to 17 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Judy Young, and her husband Michael of Quincy, a daughter Nancy Goehl of Lewistown, MO, and a son, Gary Scheufele and his wife Ruth of Cedar Rapids, IA; eight grandchildren, Tara (George) Vranas of Oak Lawn, IL, Angela (Joseph) Radkins of Quincy, Todd Young of Chicago, IL, Christine (Rick) Duvendack of Canton, IL, Dan (Rachel) Goehl of LaGrange, MO, Kathy (Scott) Wisehart of Ewing, MO, Jennifer (Steve) Hill of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Jaclyn Scheufele of Cedar Rapids, IA; as well as 17 great grandchildren-John, Caroline, and Michael Vranas, Brett, Emily, and Gavin Radkins, Jacquelyn, Andrea, Adam, and Brian Duvendack, Robert and Ellie Goehl, Nicholas and Andrew Wisehart, Zachary, Alex, and William Hill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; seven sisters, Teresa Ierace, Josephine Chiaravalle, Angelina Mirande, Victoria Wilson, Angelina Mutefusco, Consetta Immegart, and Virginia Grierson; two brothers, Michael Mirande and Vincent Mirande; and a son in law, Robert L. Goehl.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 10:30 in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM with a Prayer service at 6:30 PM. Memorials can be made to the Blessing Hospital Radiation Therapy fund or to the St. Francis Church Building Fund.
