Mary E. Tomlin, age 91, of St. Vincent Home, formerly of 428 Yule Court, Quincy, died on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in Blessing Hospital. She was born on January 30, 1918 in Quincy, Illinois, a daughter of George W. & Mary Alice (Straub) DeVore. She married Lowell Tomlin on March 8, 1941. He preceded her in death on December 1, 1993.

Mary was of the Catholic Faith. She was a housekeeper for many years for Mrs. Mary Keefe. She loved music and she was an avid reader.

Survivors include:
ONE DAUGHTER: Mary Lee Werneth and her husband Bob of Quincy;
TWO GRANDCHILDREN: Jeff and Todd Werneth both of Quincy;
TWO GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Brandon and Brittney Werneth;
DAUGHTER-IN-LAW: Sandy Tomlin
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, John Tomlin, and four brothers, George, Grubby, Harold, and Maurice DeVore.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Peter by Father John Burnette. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Quincy Humane Society or to the Church of St. Peter.
