Mary E. Ludwig – Obituary

Mary E. Ludwig, age 83, of Quincy, died on Monday, December 23, 2013 in Sunset Home. She was born on October 4, 1930 in Quincy, a daughter of Ollie & Olivia (Neihaus) Juette. She married John “Herky” Ludwig on February 13, 1960 in Quincy. He survives.

Mary worked at Illinois Bell Telephone Company and later became a homemaker. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.

Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a wonderful, generous, and caring person. As a devoted Christian, she was a role model for her family. Her fun-loving nature, sense of humor, and stories will be remembered by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband, Herky, she is survived by two sons, Ken Ludwig and his wife Penny and Bob Ludwig and his wife Pam, all of Quincy; four grandchildren Sarah Ludwig of Atlanta, GA, Andrew (Kathryn) Ludwig of Quincy, Eric East of Canton, MO and Cody (Laura) Cook of Quincy; four great grandchildren Layla East of Canton, MO and Kanon, Kage & Krew Cook of Quincy. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Church.

    So very sorry for your loss. Mary was a wonderful lady. She will be missed by so many. I took care of Mary during my clinical rotation. We would sing You are my sunshine together!

    I’m so sorry for your loss. The last time I talked to Mary was down at the home and her eyes lit up when she realized she knew me. If you need anything please let me know.
