Mary E. Gordon

Mary E. Gordon, age 90, of 1901 Adams, died on Saturday, January 9, 2016 in Blessing Hospital. She was born on October 10, 1925 in Quincy the daughter of James Carl & Stella (Schulte) Scheufele. She married Russell A. Gordon on June 28, 1947 in St. Francis Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2004.

Mary worked at Motorola for several years. Later she worked in retail at Brown Drug among other stores. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Mary is survived by:
THREE CHILDREN: Janice Kay Crank of Paxton, IL; Debra Joy Gordon of Quincy and Bruce Russell Gordon also of Quincy
GRANDDAUGHTER: Katie Clapper and her husband Jared
GREAT-GRANDDAUGHTER: Evelyn Clapper
BROTHERS: Larry Scheufele and his wife Fran; Charles Scheufele and Art Scheufele.
SISTER: Ruth Schneider
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Richard Scheufele and Robert Scheufele.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 12:00 noon at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of the services. Memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    “Mrs. Gordon” was a woman with smiling eyes, a deeply rooted woman, my friend’s mother. Condolences to Janice and all of the family. Rest in peace, Mary Gordon.
