Mary “Dolores” Klingele

Mary “Dolores” Klingele, age 84 of Quincy passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on 21 September 2013. Dolores was born 29 March 1929, in Quincy, the daughter of Elmer and Clara Weichlein.

Dolores was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. Her family, friends and the family business were her passion and her joy. She met the love of her life and future husband Ken when they worked at Moorman’s Manufacturing Company. Dolores supported Ken as he finished Veterinarian School and for the next 40 years, she was the backbone of an inseparable team. They raised five active children and built Klingele Veterinarian Clinic that still cares for thousands of Quincians’ most precious family members, their pets.

Dolores always put her family before herself. Her children are successful in their own right due largely to the encouragement she provided and values she instilled. With five children in countless school and athletic activities, she was continuously on the go. Never the less, she somehow found time to care for her aging parents and sister and provide a warm, nurturing and loving home for her husband and children. She was happiest when the family was together.

Dolores loved to dance, play cards and spend time with her friends. She often lost track of time on the penny slots. She cherished her constant companion and loving dog Malcolm. She was a longstanding member of Saint Peters Catholic Church.

Dolores is survived by her children: Vicki Davis and her husband Larry of Quincy; Joanne Klingele Obert and her husband Steve of Palmyra, MO; Michael Klingele and his wife Beth of Niceville, FL; Mary Klingele of St. Louis, MO; Christopher Klingele of Rochester, MN;
Six grandchildren: Nicole Cookson and her husband Adam, Lauren Stegmeyer and her husband Andy; Will Obert, Kenna Obert, Connor Klingele and Jake Klingele.
One great grandchild: Michaela Cookson.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Klingele, sister Juanita Weichlein, mother Clara Weichlein and father Elmer Weichlein.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, 26 September 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Church of St. Peter. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, 25 September 2013 at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Quincy Catholic Ladies of Charity and Quincy Notre Dame High School.

    Vicki, Joanne, Mike, Mary and Chris, I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of your mom. I just today learned of her passing. I cherish the memories of visiting my Quincy cousins, especially at Thanksgiving time when all the family was around. Your mom had a great laugh and I always remember her with a smile on her face. Even as a kid I could see that she was the life of the party. I’m so glad I was able to chat with her last year. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
    Molly

    We are so sorry for your loss. Dolores was our neighbor for such a short time it seems, I will miss standing in her front yard and just gabbing, when she spoke of you I could clearly see the love and pride she had for each of you. I’m sure when I see the first snow fall this year, for a moment I will be looking for her to be out there with her shovel and wanting to grab mine to assist her! I will miss seeing her out in the yard attending to her flowers and plants, with Malcome @ her feet. Your mom was a lovely woman and both Frank and are glad to have had the privledge to know her!
