Mary Catherine Hilfrink, 93, of Quincy died Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Good Samaritan Home. Mary was born April 1, 1925 in Iowa City, Iowa, a daughter of Charles F. and Rose Mary (Engels) Hopkins. She married Charles R. Hilfrink on May 30, 1945 at St. Peter Church in Quincy. He died Feb.15, 2006.

Mary attended St. Peter Elementary School and graduated from Notre Dame High School. She retired in 1969 after working at Hokamp Jewelers and previously at Apex Coil in Quincy.

She enjoyed needlepoint, solving crossword puzzles and, with her husband, camping in earlier years and traveling on day-trips throughout the region.

She was a long-time resident of Good Samaritan Home, where she served on the Resident Council and participated in many activities.

She is survived by her children, Mike Hilfrink and his wife, Evanna, of Bloomington, and David Hilfrink and his wife, Linda, of Seattle, Wash.; six grandchildren: Jennifer (Kevin) Lambert of Bloomington; Jason (Haidee Monroy) Hilfrink of Fresno, CA.; Taunya Hilfrink of Renton, Wash.; Michael (Missy) Hilfrink of Creve Coeur, Mo.; Terry Polizzi of Fenton, Mo.; and Brad (Julie) Hilfrink, of Mt. Pleasant, SC., seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Hopkins of Quincy, and a sister, Margaret (Carroll) Hippen of Roseville, Ill.. Also surviving are a cousin, Joyce Dolinar and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Robert Hopkins, and six sisters, Alice Johnson, Rosemary McLain, Louise Lisenbee, Patricia Hopkins, and two sisters in infancy, Doris Mae and Ruth Ann, and brothers and sisters-in-law, Ada Hopkins, Wayne E. Johnson, Morris “Mac” McClain, Kenneth Lisenbee, and Rita Hopkins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday morning from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to The Good Samaritan Home Foundation.
