Mary Ann Vedenhaupt
Mary Ann Vedenhaupt, age 84, of Quincy, died on Thursday, August 19, 2021, in Sunset Home. Mary was born on May 12,1937 in Quincy to Henry A. and Ida B. (Miller) Welte.
Mary was a homemaker for most of her life and later worked as a CNA for Good Samaritan Home for several years. She was of the Christian faith.
Mary was a real go-getter and was always willing to lend a helping hand whether it be driving her residents at Good Samaritan Home to their appointments or running important errands for her friends and family. She enjoyed playing horseshoes and going bowling. Most of all, she cherished the time she spent with her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her three children, Delray Joseph Vedenhaupt (Linda) of Barry, IL, Jody Marie Hathaway (Alan), and Kimberly Ann Mast (Jerry) both of Quincy; three grandchildren, Chase Joseph Mast, Chance Michael Mast, and Codi Ann Mast all of Quincy; three great grandchildren, Grant Lee Mast, Maria Mae Osmundson and Kaiden McBride all of Quincy; her step grandchildren, Michael Hathaway, Jordyn Hathaway, Aubree Hathaway, Wyatt Phillips, Briar Phillips, Tammy Johnson, Jamie Cunningham, Aaron Cunningham, Brittany Cooper, Brandon Atteberry, Justin Atteberry, Royce Johnson, Billy Jacobson, Journey Cunningham, Jayden Cunningham, Layla Cunningham, Wyatt Cunningham, Irena Cunningham, Bryson Jacobson, Jax Jacobson, Landon Cooper and Kaysen Cooper; and one sister, Barbie Sohn (Ed) of Quincy.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her infant son Mark Henry Vedenhaupt, nine siblings, Dorothy Nick, Henry Jr., Maude, Helen, Tommy, Bert, and Floyd Welte, Wanda Wand Brown, all of Quincy and Ida Ow of Chicago
Cremation has been accorded to Mary. A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, August 23, 2021, from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home. There are no services, but friends and family are invited to attend the visitation. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Jody Hathaway. Service arrangements are with Duker and Haugh Funeral Home.
Jody, Kim and Delray- we are so sorry to hear about Mary! She took such good care of Josh when he was a baby. He and April just adored her! Such a sweet lady.
