Mary A. Haistings

Mary A. Haistings, age 94, of Quincy, died on Monday, January 3, 2022 in the Barry Community Care Center. She was born on March 13, 1927 in Quincy, the daughter of Herbert and Agnes (Waterkotte) Brink. Mary worked at Mercantile Bank from February of 1953 until her retirement in March of 1989.

As a proud mother, loving grandmother, and aunt, Mary touched so many with her caring and kind nature. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, and golfing at Cedar Crest Country Club. Through the years she enjoyed traveling on bus trips and visiting relatives. Watching Cardinal Baseball was one of her favorite pastimes. Most of all, though, she enjoyed time spent with her family.

GRANDSON: Scott Haistings and his wife Jeanine of Kansas City, MO
GREAT GRANDDAUGHTERS: Samantha and Sydney Haistings also of Kansas City, MO.

We always enjoyed Aunt Mary’s cookies although it broke our heart when we found out that she had made them and not Grandma. Aunt Mary waited until we were adults to deliver the news and we all got a good laugh out of it.

My condolences to Mary’s family. I had the pleasure to work with her at the bank for many years. Had lots of laughs & good times. Was glad to catch up with her again after her retirement when I joined St Frances Church. Rest in peace Mary.
