Marvin Willing

Marvin Willing, age 84, of 2715 Brook Drive, Quincy, died on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. in Quincy. He was born on October 17, 1925 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Martin and Esther (Siebraisse) Willing. He married Emma Catherine Dunker on August 31, 1946 in Quincy. She preceded him in death on March 8, 2003.

He was veteran of World War II.

Before his retirement, he was employed as a Tool & Dye Maker and was a Shop Supervisor at Gardner Denver.

Marvin was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren with him. He participated in many 3-D Archery events and trap shooting. He also enjoyed spending time in his workshop making things for his family.

Survivors include:
THREE CHILDREN: Mike Willing and his wife Barb of Columbus, IL; Kathy Willing and Peggy Gower and her husband Jerry all of Quincy;
TWO GRANDSONS: Kenneth Gower and his wife Lisa of Quincy, and Gregory Willing and his wife Brandi of Springfield, IL;
FOUR-GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Austin, Ashley, Emily and Ryan Gower.
ONE STEP-GREAT GRANDAUGHTER: Kayleigh Ketchum of Quincy;
ONE BROTHER: Ronald Willing and his wife Lou.
THREE SISTERS: Genevieve Bockenfeld and her husband Don, Phyllis Simpson and her husband Hal, and Rosemary Molette and her husband Frank.

In addition to his wife, Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and five brothers.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 9, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by Rev. Wanda Seydell. Interment will be in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Blessing Foundation for HOSPICE or the Kidney Foundation.
