Martha Klinner

Martha E. Klinner, age 91, of the North Adams Home, formerly of 5137 Columbus RD in Quincy, died on Friday, February 29, 2008 at 5:00 PM in Blessing Hosiptal. She was born on February 18, 1917 in Quincy, the daughter of William G. & Mary B. (Kansteiner) Dickhoener. She married Roman Klinner on May 30, 1938 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on June 24, 1997. Mrs. Klinner worked at Pierson’s Manufacturing as a dressmaker. During World War II, Martha worked at the Shipyards in California. Martha was also an Avon lady for several years.

Mrs. Klinner was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and a former long-time member of St. Dominic Catholic Church. While a member of St. Dominic, Martha was very active in the ladies of St. Dominic’s and the Quilter’s. She also served as a Eucharistic Minister.

She is survived by:
TWO CHILDREN: Bonita Sparrow and her husband Ken, Sr., of Quincy; and Robert Klinner and his wife Deborah also of Quincy.
SIX GRANDCHILDREN: Kenneth Sparrow, Jr. and his wife Tanya, Gregory Meyer and his wife Mary, Jennifer Sparrow, Melissa Drew and her husband Matt, Ryan Klinner and his fiance Angie, and Miranda Miller and her husband Sam.
TEN GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Lowell, Joey and Karlie Sparrow, Jackson Meyer, Will, Maggie and John Drew; Alexis and Avery Klinner and Danny Miller.
Numerous other nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Sylvester Dickhoener and two sisters: Rita Dickhoener in childhood and Genevieve Dawson.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at 9:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Catholic Church.
