Mark “Deuce” Duesterhaus

Mark “Deuce” Duesterhaus, age 61, of 1306 N. 8th St., Quincy, died on Thursday, November 5, 2015 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on October 28, 1954 in Quincy, a son of Donald & Mary Lou (Kenady) Duesterhaus. He married Denise E. Courtois on June 6, 1989 in Hannibal, MO. She preceded him in death on January 16, 2011.

Mark served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Celotex Corp., Quincy Water Conditioning and retired from the City of Quincy Water Treatment Plant.

He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, being with his family and telling stories. He also enjoyed auto repair, carpentry, plumbing and working with his hands. He always had to be moving and he couldn’t go anywhere without making new friends. During the past several years when it was difficult for him to leave his house, he still kept in constant touch with his family and friends through Facebook. Even towards the end, he always smiled and told jokes. If you ever travel on the Plainville blacktop or drive to the Loraine lumber yard on a clear fall day and listen carefully, you might still hear him laughing while out riding his motorcycle.

He is survived by:
ONE DAUGHTER, Lacy Duesterhaus of Illinois;
ONE STEP-DAUGHTER, Lisa Garcia of Missouri;
ONE STEP-SON, Spencer Garcia of Quincy;
SIX GRANDCHILDREN
ONE GREAT-GRANDCHILD
EIGHT BROTHERS, Joseph A. Duesterhaus and his wife Laura, Steven K. Duesterhaus and his wife Glori, Paul M. Duesterhaus and his wife Mary Ann, and Gregory L. Duesterhaus, all of Quincy; Jonathan L. Duesterhaus and his wife Susan of Appleton, WI; Kevin F. Duesterhaus and his wife Sandy of Kansas City, MO; Timothy J. Duesterhaus and his wife Teresa, and Todd W. Duesterhaus and his wife Taffy, all of Quincy; and
ONE SISTER, Mary Beth Duesterhaus of Chatham, IL;

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Denise.

A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to the Quincy Humane Society.

    It’s so sad to hear of an old friend passing. Though it was nice to think back about all the trouble Mark and I got into in our younger years. My heartfelt condolences to the entire Duesterhaus clan.
