Mark A. Blickhan

Mark A. Blickhan, age 54, of Quincy, Illinois, died on Thursday, August 18, 2011 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on April 6, 1957 in Quincy, the son of Joseph & Lucille (Gramke) Blickhan.

A 1975 graduate of Catholic Boys High School, Mark played football, basketball and baseball. Mark was a member of the QND Hall of Fame Teams in football and baseball. He was a 1979 graduate of Quincy College and earned and MBA from Western Illinois University.

Mark worked in accounting at Quincy Peoples and later at Harris International. He was employed for 21 years as a Certified Medical Representative for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, winning many national sales awards.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the National Association of Accountants, was past president of the Mart Heinen Club and was a member of Spring Lake Country Club.

Mark is survived by his brother and sister-in-law: Mike and Sally (Hagood) Blickhan of Quincy, his niece and Goddaughter: Sarah Blickhan of Ft. Collins, Colorado. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives also survive.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Lucille Blickhan, his godfather: Tony Blickhan and his godmother Mary Frey along with other relatives.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 9:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and a funeral mass at 10:00 in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 at the funeral home with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus service to follow. Memorials may be made to Quincy Notre Dame, St. Francis School or to the Joseph and Lucille Blickhan Scholarship Fund at Quincy University.

    I was so shocked to learn that Mark has passed. I worked with Mark at Pfizer in the 90’s. I was trying to contact him when I realized he is gone. I am so sorry.and sad for your loss.
