Marjorie Lois Crabtree

Marjorie Lois Crabtree, age 84, of 217 Elm St., Quincy, died on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 6:20 a.m. in North Adams Home, Mendon, IL. She was born on July 20, 1930 in Chillicothe, MO, a daughter of Stanley Louis & Flora Elizabeth (Ammons) Drummond. She married Harvey LeRoy Crabtree, Sr. on February 10, 1946 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on August 27, 1994.

Marjorie was a teacher with the Quincy Public School District retiring after twenty-seven years of service. She was involved in the pilot program for Head Start.

She attended church services at the Salvation Army. She loved to garden, enjoyed fruit trees and all kinds of vegetables. She liked baking cakes and was a skilled seamstress.

Survivors include her children, James L. Crabtree of Taylorville, Harvey L. Crabtree, Jr. of Quincy, Elizabeth A. Akers and her husband Bill of Payson, IL, Christine C. Foster of Linneus, MO, Mark L. Crabtree, Sr. and his wife Jean of LasVegas, NV, Daniel L. Crabtree of Quincy & Stephen L. Crabtree and his wife Barb of Quincy; twenty-seven grandchildren; 78 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren

In addition to her husband, Harvey, and her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons in infancy, a son Terry Crabtree, a half-sister Rosemary Drummond, brothers Donald, Harold & Charles Drummond.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 13, 2015 at 1:00 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, April 17, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in Sunset Cemetery of the Illinois Veterans Home. Visitation will be held on Monday from 12:00 noon until the time of the services. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
