Marjorie Lea Shaffer

Marjorie Lea Shaffer age 75, of Good Samaritan Home died on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 6:05 a.m. in the Home. She was born January 21, 1939 in Quincy, a daughter of Jesse and Ola Tina (Hibbert) Tournear.

She first married Harold Howard and later married William Shaffer.

Marjorie had been employed cleaning homes and worked at various Quincy businesses, including Motorola, Micro Energy and Harris Corp, from where she retired in September of 2006.

She was of the Christian faith.

She loved dancing at the American Legion on Sunday nights and at the VFW as well. Marjorie enjoyed collecting dolls, and listening to country music classics, her favorite artist was George Jones.

Survivors include her four children, Brenda Howard Johnson and her husband, Mike; Daniel Howard, Pennie Shaffer Sparks and her husband Rich all of Quincy; and Jesse Shaffer and his wife Heidi of Fowler, IL;
10 grandchildren; Twins, Brooke Little of Quincy and Tyler Little of Rochester, MN; Miki Johnson; Ashlen and Alex Johnson all of Quincy; Kerry Howard, Jordin Sparks and his wife Kira; Kaylea Sparks all Quincy; Zachary Shaffer and his wife Amber of Clayton and Isabella Shaffer of Fowler; Two great grandaughters: Mylan Shaffer and Jailyn Akers both of Clayton, IL.

A brother, Robert Tournear and his wife Charlotte of LaGrange, MO and sisters, Maxine Prisner and her husband Chester of Palmyra, MO; Arlene Cecil of Quincy a brother-in-law Pat Clow, and many nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Carolyn Clow, two nephews, Dave Crooks and Chuck Tournear and a niece, Kim Lennox.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with Chaplain James Riley officiating. Interment will be in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials have been suggested to the Adams County Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. www.dukerandhaugh.com
