Marjorie E. Blair, 86, died on September 6, 2021 at The Arbors at Adams Pointe Memory Care Assisted Living in Quincy. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Marge was born on April 22, 1935 in Quincy, IL to John (Hans) H. and Mary E. (Connor) Kramer. She married Vincent K. Blair on July 28, 1956 and they had 43 beautiful years together until Vince’s death on October 31, 1999. Marge and Vince dedicated their lives to each other, their eight children, and their many grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were both honest, hardworking, salt-of-the-earth Midwesterners who were admired and respected in this community.

Marge was raised in a home on Adams Street across from Blessed Sacrament Church, the former St. Mary’s, where she was a lifelong member. She attended mass regularly and cherished her faith, relying on it for the strength to provide for such a large family, and to be there for her many relatives and friends. Marge was a great cook, and the sheer number of wonderful meals that she made for her family in her lifetime is astounding.

Marge attended Notre Dame High School and graduated from Quincy High School with the Class of 1953. Before marrying she spent a fun year working as a telephone operator in Chicago where she had cousins.

As a child Marge was a talented dancer and remained sporty all her life. In her 50s she learned to ski, but became most dedicated to golf. She came to love the game and played it well, achieving not one but two holes-in-one at Westview. Golf was a major part of her life until a few years ago, and the wonderful friends she made there are still in her life. Marge cherished her many lifelong friendships and considered family and friends as her greatest treasures.

Marge has eight children: Mark M. (Sheryl) Blair of Auburn, AL; his twin Vincent K. Blair of Webster Groves, MO; Kathy L. (Don Zimmerman) Blair of Parker, CO; Michael S. (Tonja) Blair of Quincy; his twin Timothy J. Blair of Quincy; Nicholas M. (Heidi) Blair of Loveland, CO; Penny S. (Bill) Mummey of Quincy; and Holly A. (Troy) Hummel of Quincy.
Marge has 15 grandchildren: Mark and Sheryl’s children are Ryan and Rachel Trummer and Jack Blair; Vince’s son is Alexander Blair; Mike and Tonja’s daughter is Shelbi (Blake) Doane; Tim’s children are Caroline, Miles (Stephanie) and Amanda Blair; Nick and Heidi’s children are Brynn (Shane) Vaughn and Hayden and Keaton Blair; Penny and Bill’s children are Reid and McKendree Mummey; and Holly and Troy’s children are Katie and Olivia Hummel. Marge has seven great grandchildren: Shelbi and Blake’s children are Charlotte and Dean Doane; Miles and Stephanie’s children are Henry, Charles and Margaret Blair; Brynn and Shane’s children are Taytum Robie-Goodenberger and Beckett Vaughn.
Marge is survived by her sister-in-law Billie Kramer and her sister-in-law Karen Blair.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Mary Kramer; her husband Vince Blair; her infant sister Barbara Jean Kramer; her sister Betty L. Earnest and her husband Arthur (Bob) Earnest; her brother John H. Kramer Jr.; her brother-in-law George M. Blair; and her sister-in-law Mary L. Shaw.

Funeral services with a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services. Suggested memorials are to Blessed Sacrament Church and Adams County Alzheimer’s Association.
