Marilyn Rose Barry Pruett

Marilyn Rose Barry Pruett, age 83, of Quincy, died on Monday, December 15, 2014 in Blessing Hospital. She was born on August 16, 1931 in Quincy the daughter of Henry and Rose (Koch) Waterkotte. Marilyn was a graduate of Quincy Notre Dame. She first married Donald L. Barry. He preceded her in death. She later married Francis ‘Junior’ Pruett. He also preceded her in death. Marilyn had worked for Motorola and also for Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company. She was a long-time member of St. John the Baptist Church and presently was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.

Like the roses she loved so much, her life has been full of both beauty and thorns. She was strong through many things including the loss of two husbands and three children. Fortunately her life also included a large fun-loving family, many successes and friends. She was like a rose, both sweet and ornery, loving and strict, encouraging and realistic. She lived her life with a strong work ethic that has influenced her children. Her legacy includes six children, three stepchildren, daughter and son-in-laws, 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. To her children she was their flower, their rose, and they feel blessed to have had their mother in their lives for eighty-three years.

She is survived by:
