Marie L. Ridder
Marie L. Ridder, age of 105, of 1029 Madison, died on Saturday, December 18, 2010 in her home. She was born on October 8, 1905 in McDonough County near Plymouth, IL the daughter of James Irwin & Anna (Robinson) Welchans. Marie graduated from Plymouth High School and Gem City Business College. She married William H. “Bill” Ridder on July 24, 1937 by Msgr. Louis Hufker at St. Boniface Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on October 4, 1993. Marie worked as a legal secretary for various insurance agencies in the area. In later years, she was a librarian at St. Boniface Grade School. She was a long-time member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Marie liked to cook, play cards, and visit with her friends.
She is survived by:
TWO CHILDREN: James W. Ridder and his wife Joyce of Quincy and Mary Ann Ridder and her husband Michael B. Cook, Sr. also of Quincy.
THREE GRANDCHILDREN: Jeffrey J. Ridder, Jody A. Schneider and her husband Mark; and Jennifer L. Meyer and her husband Ted.
THREE GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Daphne Whitaker, Allison Meyer and Gwendolyn Meyer.
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by two brothers: Fred and Russell Welchans and a brother and sister in infancy.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 9:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by Msgr. Michael Kuse. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM with a Prayer service at 5:30 PM .
