Margie Rebecca ‘Becky’ Vogel

Margie Rebecca ‘Becky’ Vogel, age 72, of Quincy, died on June 17, 2024 in Blessing Hospital. She was born on December 4, 1951 in Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield, IL. She was the daughter of James Samuel and Eileen Ruth (Bener) Shackleford. She married Charles ‘Charlie’ Vogel on August 10, 2005. He survives.

Becky was a graduate of Quincy Senior High School, and Roosevelt University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Becky had worked at the former Electric Wheel in the Accounting Department. She also was a manager for the Quincy Motor Inn. She later was in media sales in the Chicago and Quincy markets and had worked for WTAD, 99Q, the Oldies, and Y101. She was a member of the Quincy Society of Fine Arts, the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and was Girl of the Year. Becky was also an ambassador for the Quincy Chamber of Commerce, the Quincy Tea Party, was a board member for the Quincy Convention and Visitors Bureau and was former President of the Great River Restaurant Association.

Becky enjoyed reading, golf, arts and crafts. She was a political junkie and a CUBS fan. She loved to spend her time with friends and family.

In addition to her husband Charlie, Becky is also survived by:
SISTERS-IN-LAW: Ann McKinney, Kathy Vogel and Linda Shackleford.
SON: Bryan (Donna) Campbell of Tennessee
STEP-DAUGHTERS: Candy Vogel and Katie (Patrick) Uhrig.
GRANDCHILDREN: Alexis Campbell and Alyssa Campbell.
STEP-GRANDCHILDREN: Oliver, Lincoln and Amelia Uhrig
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents, a brother James S. Shackleford and a nephew Robert Kent Shackleford.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 12:00 noon at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 until the time of the services at noon. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Hospital Foundation for Hospice or the Charity of the Donor’s Choice. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    Deepest sympathy to Charlie & the entire family. Becky and I work together at the radio station golfed mostly at Cedar-crest and had a lot of fun in past years. I am so grateful you guys found each other and for the life you shared. May God welcome Becky to his heavenly home and may bless you all and comfort you during your time of sorrow, knowing we will al someday meet again!

    Charlie and family, So sorry for your loss. Didn’t know Becky, But lived just a block away from the Vogel family growing up. Prayers for your family.
