Margaret V. Renier

Margaret V. Renier, age 94, of 2266 Chestnut, Quincy, died on Thursday, July 5, 2012 in the home of her daughter. She was born May 15, 1918 in Quincy, a daughter of Dan & Mae (Kraft) Peters. Margaret was raised by her aunt and uncle, Ed & Maggie Freiburg. She married August Bernard “Bernie” Renier, Jr., on October 23, 1937 in St. Mary’s Church in Keokuk, IA. Margaret and Bernie met while roller skating at Baldwin Park. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 1997.
Bernie preceded her in death on October 26, 1998.

Margaret worked at Notre Dame High School, Gates Radio and she retired in 1980 after working eighteen years in the cafeteria at Moorman Manufacturing.

She loved traveling and visiting with family and friends. She enjoyed attending card parties and was a long-time member of St. Francis Church, the Ladies of St. Francis and the Eagles Auxiliary.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Snyder of Quincy; six grandchildren, Larry (Linda) Snyder, Tammy (Tim) Smith and Allen Snyder all of Quincy, John (Melissa) Renier, Jr. of Hull, IL, Brad Renier of Quincy and Angel Stupasky of Eugene, OR; a sister-in-law, Irene Timmerwilke; a brother-in-law, Frank Siegner of Nipomo, CA; 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her husband, Bernie, and her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, August B. Renier, III and John E. Renier; a son-in-law, Wilbur D. Snyder, a granddaughter and great-granddaughter.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 9, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church by Fr. Don Blaeser, O.F.M. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday morning from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to St. Francis Catholic Church.

    To cousin Mary and family..please accept my sincere the loss of your Mom, Aunt Marg..I would like to come over but I am committed to go to STL and care for my grandaughter on MTW every week as she has a heart defect and they have no one while they work..or I certainly would be there..I have fond memories of your mom when I was young..I think she is with your dad , brothers and is at peace now..Take care and I am thinking of you and your family during this hard time
