Margaret M. Wolf
Margaret M. Wolf, age 90, formerly of 2519 Cherry, Quincy, died on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 9:00 p.m. in St. Vincent’s Home. She was born on August 14, 1924 in Quincy, a daughter of Edward & Dorothy (Brink) Hummel. She married Paul Wolf on April 10, 1947 in St. Francis Catholic Church in Quincy. He preceded her in death on February 19, 1999.
The first 10 years of their married life they farmed north of Quincy. They moved to Quincy in 1956. Margaret was later employed at Quincy Senior High School cafeteria for 20 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, the Ladies of St. Francis and their quilting group.
She loved quilting and made a quilt for each of her grandchildren. She enjoyed family gatherings and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren growing.
Survivors include three daughters, Diane Lansing and her husband Steve of Hernando, MS, Pat Chase and her husband Marshall of Fowler, IL and Barb Oenning and her husband Jim of Quincy; a son-in-law Gene Kuhn of Ursa, IL; 13 grandchildren, Gina (Brent) Whelan of Quincy, Jenny (Brent) Gronewold of Mendon, IL, Julie (Chris) Gates of Crystal Lake, IL, Curt Kuhn, Craig (Angie) Kuhn and Chris (Linda) Kuhn, all of Jacksonville, IL, Kevin (Megan) Kuhn of Bloomington, IL, Ben (Jennifer) Lansing of Berwyn, IL, Stephanie (Randy) Ewers of Cumming, GA, Nathan (Nancy) Chase of Hannibal, MO, Tabitha (Eddie) Surowiec, Jill Oenning and Sara (Ben) Nytes, all of Quincy; numerous great-grandchildren; one sister, Clara (Mike) O’Brien and one brother Gerald, both of Quincy. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her husband, Paul, and her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Joan Kuhn, two brothers, Carl & Robert Hummel; and two grandchildren Christine & Colin Kuhn.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday morning from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Association.
