Marg Warrington RN, BSN loved her job. For nearly 25 years she was the self-proclaimed “finest nurse to walk the grounds of the Illinois Veteran’s Home”, bringing joy to so many with her outstanding care and one-of-a-kind sense of humor. She referred to the 8th Street Gate as “my signature garden”. She was a devoted member of St. Anthony’s Church and a generous supporter of Washington School.

Most of all, she loved her family.

In addition to her husband William, survivors also include her father, Verne Hagstrom of Quincy; two sons, Stephen (Courtney) Warrington of Philadelphia, PA and Kenneth Warrington of Quincy. Four grandchildren, Austin, Henry and Arden Warrington of Philadelphia and Damien Warrington of Quincy. Two brothers, Rev. Thomas Hagstrom and Joe (Michelle) Hagstrom and a sister, Elizabeth (Jeff) Reid all of Quincy; in-laws, nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her mother, a daughter, Kelly Warrington, and a brother William James Hagstrom.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Anthony Catholic Church by Rev Thomas Hagstrom. Interment will be in Sunset Cemetery.

I had the privilege of working with Marg Warington RN and she was an excellent nurse. I adored her sense of humor. I can still hear her telling me that she was the finest nurse that ever walked on the grounds of IVH. She touched the hearts of the patients and her co-workers. Please know that my prayers are with your family during this difficult time. God bless you.

Marg and I were best friends in High School. She has always had the most unique sense of humor and I don’t think I’ve known anyone else with such a positive outlook on life in spite of some of the difficult times she knew. I will miss hearing from her: a card or letter from her was something to look forward to opening, because I knew I would smile and laugh. She left us far too soon and I will miss her terribly.

Worked with Marg for a few years. Enjoyed her warm personality. She gave me some flowers that I still have in my yard and enjoying. I thought of her the other day when I saw the flowers, not knowing she had been ill. Sorry for your loss.
