Margaret L. “Margie” Augustin
Margaret L. “Margie” Augustin, age 86, of 2206 Brookmeade Drive, died on Thursday, November 1, 2012 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born on December 6, 1925 in Quincy, a daughter of Clarence & Leona (Price) Herold. She married William A. Augustin on October 15, 1949 in St. Francis Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on April 2, 2008.
Margie was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and Gem City Business College. She worked for Western Catholic Union for many years. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Margie enjoyed camping and fishing and playing cards with friends and family. She also loved playing tennis and had won the City Championship. Margie met her husband, Bill on the tennis court. Trips to watch the St. Louis Cardinals play was one of the biggest enjoyments in her life. She loved the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Margie was very grateful for her friend Starr Gold who gave her wonderful care during her last days of life. She will also never forget her loving dog, “Scruffy”.
She is survived by:
THREE DAUGHTERS: Judy Middendorf and her husband Steve of Quincy; Janet Kaiser and her husband Stuart of Quincy; Jean Brod and her husband Brian also of Quincy.
SIX GRANDCHILDREN: Kerry Cornelius and her husband J.K.; Scott Middendorf and his wife Angela; Tana Schutte; Nikki McDonald and her husband Aaron, Brandon Brod and Brent Brod.
TEN-GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Kaylan and Braydan Cornelius; two sets of twins: Dylan and Gavyn Middendorf and then Keatyn and Trystan Middendorf; Trevor Schutte; Taryn Schutte, Tanner Sparks, and Briggs McDonald Augustin.
ONE SISTER: Nancy McGann and her husband John of Princeville, IL
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
In addition to her husband and parents, Margie was preceded in death by a grandson, Marc Middendorf and one sister: Wanda Derhake.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 5, 2012 at 9:00 at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 9:30 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 3:00 until 6:00 at the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home with a parish prayer service at 5:30. Memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, the Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to the Meals on Wheels program.
