Margaret E. Ravenscraft

Margaret E. Ravenscraft, age 95, of Sunset Home, formerly of the Quincy Senior Center, died on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at 2:40 a.m. in Blessing Hospital. She was born on May 31, 1919 in Burton IL, a daughter of William & Marguerite (Crabbe) Gramke. She first married Otto E. Smithers, Jr. She then married Curtis “Lee” Ravenscraft on February 25, 1966 in Jacksonville IL. He preceded her in death in 1977.

Margaret worked for many years in sales at Hurley Shoes prior to her retirement.

She was a longtime member of St. John’s Catholic Church. She currently attended St. Francis Catholic Church.

She enjoyed country music, loved flowers, gardening and her red wine. Margaret attended as many of her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s sporting events as possible. Affectionately known as “Granny Foo Foo”, she believed her grandchildren and great grandchildren could do no wrong. Her family was of the utmost importance to her.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Ann Spickler and her husband Gene “Wimp” of Ballwin, MO, Betty Veihl and her husband Patrick of Quincy and Kathy Williams and her life partner, Jim Ostermueller of Quincy; a step-daughter, Joni (Ravenscraft) Fastnacht and her husband Dennis of Lee Summit, MO; seven grandchildren, Curt (Kelly) Spickler, Bill (Kim) Veihl, Tom Veihl, Christy (Dale) Hughes, Stacy (Tom) Huffington, Chad Spickler & Abbey Williams; eight great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Genadine McConnell of Quincy. She was also survived by six nieces and two nephews.

In addition to her two husbands and her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William & Ralph Gramke.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church with the Msgr. Michael Kuse officiating. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church. A ‘Celebration of Her Life’ will be held @ the Quincy Senior Center immediately following the Interment.
