Madalon Elam, age 82, of 605 Einhaus LN, died on Monday, May 16, 2016 in Barnes Hospital. She was born on March 3, 1934 in Quincy, the daughter of Marshall and Mildred (Richardson) Campbell. She was a graduate of Quincy Notre Dame High School. She married Phil Elam on August 11, 1956 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He survives. They would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this August.

Madalon had worked for the Rinella Company. Along with her husband, she was the owner and operator of the Phil Elam Heating and Air Company from 1974 until their retirement.

Madalon was a long time and active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She was president of the Ladies of St. John’s, had worked in the office and had been an assistant Girl Scout Leader. She had also worked in the school cafeteria and was the cafeteria bookkeeper. Madalon was presently a member and Eucharist Minister of Blessed Sacrament Parish. She was both a lector and Eucharistic Minister at Sunset Home.

Madalon was very active in the American Business Women of America. She was vice-president, president, and woman of the year. She attended numerous regional meetings and even the National Convention in 1986.

Madalon was an avid Cardinal Fan. She loved to play cards and win. Madalon enjoyed yard work and the hummingbirds. She greatly enjoyed the meetings she had over the years with ‘Raidette Club’.

ONE DAUGHTER: Laura Peterson and her husband Randy of Quincy
ONE GRANDSON: Jared Peterson of Columbia, MO
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Robert ‘Bob’ Campbell along with his wife Bonnie.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 9:30 at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to Blessed Sacrament Church.
