M. Joyce Dailing

M. Joyce Dailing, age 67, of 2601 Maine, died with her children by her side on Thursday, July 14, 2011 in Blessing Hospital. She was born on May 6, 1944 in St. Louis, MO the daughter of Leona Dinsmore and the granddaughter of Hiram & Jennie Dinsmore. She married Dan Dailing on February 15, 1964 in St. Boniface Catholic Church. He survives.

Joyce was a graduate of Pittsfield High School and attended Gem City College where she met her future husband. Joyce was a secretary for the city of Quincy until 1968 when she became a full time mother and homemaker. Joyce was a long time member of the Church of St. Peter, she loved the game of golf and was an avid bridge player. She was a member of the Women’s City Club. Joyce was also always completely involved in all of her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.

In addition to her husband, she is also survived by:
TWO CHILDREN: Debby Stark and her husband Joe of Maywood, MO; and Mike Dailing and his wife Sarah of Quincy
THREE GRANDCHILDREN: Julie Laws, Grace Dailing and Parker Dailing.
Numerous other relatives and many friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by her mother and grandparents.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 9:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and a funeral mass at 10:00 in the Church of St. Peter by Msgr. Leo Enlow. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Quincy Notre Dame or to the Church of St. Peter.

    Dear Dan, Debbie and Mike,

    Please accept our deepest sympathy in the loss of your wife and mother. Joyce was a great lady and I know that it will leave a void in your lives. We pray that God will be your source of support and strength in this time of sorrow. May God Bless and strengthen you now and in the future.

    As a child, I recall that I always thought Joyce seemed so happy and full of laughter, and that really never changed as I grew up. I hope it brings some comfort to those that go on to know that she will always be remembered that way.
