M. Georgann Oppie

M. Georgann Oppie, age 90, of Quincy, died on Thursday, February 24, 2022 in the home of her daughter. She was born on April 10, 1931 in Quincy the daughter of Theodore and Mary (Lavery) Mondores. After Theodore’s death when Georgann was very young, she was raised by Mary along with her second husband Albert Weibring. She was a graduate of Quincy Notre Dame.
Georgann was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and was a member of the Ladies of St. Francis.

Georgann worked for many years at the Electric Wheel until its closing and then worked at the switchboard at Blessing Hospital until her retirement.

In her younger years, Georgann enjoyed golfing and bowling. She loved to travel, to read, and luncheon with her friends. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. Her greatest enjoyment was the time spent with her family and at family events.

She is survived by:
HER DAUGHTER: Carla Slough (Dennis) of Quincy
TWO GRANDCHILDREN: Nathan Slough and Erin Gilmore (Erich)
FIVE GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Ethan Slough, Gracie Slough, Mason Slough, Bowen Gilmore and Logan Gilmore.
TWO SISTERS: Margie Boden (Jim) and Alice Bender (Bill)
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Joseph Weibring along with his wife Sandy and special cousins Florence Lavery and Dorothy Lavery.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 28, 2022 at 10:00 AM in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church on Monday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the services at 10:00 AM. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Catholic Church, Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to St. Jude Childrens’ Hospital.
