Lucille Grawe

Lucille M. Grawe age 73 of Sunset Home, died Wednesday July 3, 2024, 5:00 pm at the Emergency Room of Blessing Hospital, Quincy, IL. Lucille was born July 10, 1950 in Quincy, a daughter of Eugene & Mary Ann (Mast) Grawe.

Lucille graduated from St. Anthony grade school, Notre Dame High School in 1968 & Quincy College in 1972. She taught at St Mary Grade School now known as Blessed Sacrament & in Salem, Illinois. Lucille worked in Home Care. She also gave out samples in stores meeting many people which she enjoyed.

Family life was important to her & loved growing up on the family farm. She appreciated the simple things in life & had a heart of gold. She loved to take time with the younger kids to help them learn. Working at Camp Callahan had a special place in her heart. Her hobbies included playing the guitar, singing in the church choir, square dancing, & card playing. She always looked forward to family gatherings.

She had been a member of Blessed Sacrament & St. Anthony Catholic Church & the Western Catholic Union. She volunteered time at Blessing Hospital as a Eucharistic minister, praying with patients & families. In her earlier years she had been involved in Teens Encounter Christ & Cursillo.

Lucille was the oldest of 11 children. Her surviving siblings include Rita Frericks of Liberty; Ken (Geri) Grawe; Margie Grawe; Tom Grawe all of Quincy; RoseAnn Hugenberg of Liberty; JoAnn (Fred) Witte of Quincy; Mary Howald of Center, MO; Dorothy (Bob) Haley of Quincy. Sister-in-law Gail (Dan) Reichert. Numerous nieces & nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two siblings in infancy; her brothers Joe & Roger Grawe; her brothers-in-law Paul Frericks, Dan Hugenberg; sisters-in-law Lynda & Pat Grawe; three nieces Jacquelyn Grawe, Adrianne Grawe, & Katie Hugenberg, a nephew, Timothy Haley & great nephew Ty Muder.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday 9:15 AM July 10, 2024 (Lucille’s birthday) in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in St Anthony Catholic Church. Burial will be in St Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday July 9, from 4-6 PM at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gene Grawe Catholic Education Fund or to St Anthony Catholic Church.

    I’m so sorry to hear about your sister. She was so kind and had a good heart. I enjoyed seeing some of you when it was time to play cards. Lucille loved when you came to see her.
