Lonnie L. Shipe

Lonnie L. Shipe, age 55, of 8104 Columbus Road, Fowler, IL died on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 in Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born on October 15, 1954 in Hancock County, IL, a son of Leo & Arlene (Edmonds) Shipe. He was a graduate of Payson Seymour High School. Lonnie married Theresa Guthrie on April 16, 1983. Lonnie worked at Knapheide Manufacturing for numerous years until his retirement due to illness.

Lonnie was a treasured son, wonderful father and adored grandfather. His passion was hunting and his connection with the Lord could always be found in Mother Nature. He was in every way ‘a good ole boy’ — and that is why he was loved.

Survivors include:
HIS FATHER: Leo Shipe of Quincy;
CHILDREN: Jody Shipe of Texas, Jennifer Bordewick and her husband Mark of Quincy, Joanna Shipe of Fowler, and Jacob Shipe of Quincy;
GRANDCHILDREN: Brett, Blayne, Breanna Bordewick & Kayden Shipe;
ONE BROTHER: Terry Shipe and his wife Emily of GA;
THREE SISTERS: Susie Stotts and her husband Kenneth of Payson, Kathy Dietrich and her husband Leo of Quincy, and Nancy McMahon of AZ;
HALF SISTER: Melody McCandless

Lonnie was preceded in death by his mother and a sister Leanne Shipe.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by Rev. Jerry Harris. Interment will be in Payson Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Grandchildren’s Education Fund.
