Lois I. Holford Lepper

Lois I. Holford Lepper died on Friday, December 10th. Lois was the daughter of Roy J. and Irma Holford of Quincy. She married Arthur W. Lepper, Jr., also of Quincy, on December 22, 1956. Arthur passed away in February 2021.

Lois graduated from Quincy Senior High School and Carthage College. She received her Master’s in Reading graduate Degree from Western Il University. She taught English and Drama at Quincy Junior High from 1953 to 1995. She had served as Head of the English Department for some time and directed many school and church plays. Member of AAUW, Delta Kappa Gamma, Retired Teacher of Illinois, past President of International Honorary Teachers Society and had served on several educational boards, such as Gifted Program of Illinois and Head Start.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, teacher and member of the community. Among her many hobbies, her favorites were reading, gardening, traveling, quilting and sharing a good joke. Lois was a member of Luther Memorial Church.

Lois is survived by four children: David Lepper of Quincy, Julie Peck (James) of Saratoga, CA, Paula Lepper of Saratoga, CA, and John Lepper of Lake City, FL. Five Grandchildren: Patrick Lepper (Elizabeth), Jessica Bunce (Ryan), Allyssa Peck, Aidan Peck, Brandon Lepper. Three Great-Grandchildren: Henry, Cruz and Grayson Lepper. Many nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded by her parents and four siblings, Marvin Holford, Eugene Holford, Loren Holford and Mary Ann Baxter.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment in Greenmount Cemetery will follow the service. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation and Luther Memorial Church of Quincy. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

    I met Lois through AAUW, I remember Lois as a pleasant person and I remember her smile and all the good conversations we had. Condolences to the family.
