Lloyd Marion Lenz

Lloyd Marion Lenz, 57 of Liberty went to be with his parents and brother Larry, Friday, April 21, 2017 at Blessing Hospital, surrounded by loving family.
Lloyd was born May 10, 1959 in Quincy, to Eugene (Gene) and Antonine (Huber) Lenz.
Lloyd attended Liberty Schools.
Lloyd was loved by many and didn’t really know a stranger. His favorite pastimes were fishing, playing cards with friends, taking care of his yard and plants, feeding his squirrels, and hunting–especially the “illusive” Morel Mushroom. One of his last hopes was to show his sister Nancy, “where the good spots” were, so he could get one last taste. He loved collecting and cracking Pecans from the trees around his home, then selling or giving them to his family & friends. He enjoyed the opportunity he had to see the country when he worked for Flesner Floors. He was always ready to enjoy a cold Budweiser. Lloyd was a “Ladies Man”, up until the very end he loved to flirt with the ladies at the Cancer Center and Blessing Infusion Center and especially his “sweetheart” Pam at the Radiation Department who kept him stocked in Oatmeal Raisin Cookies.
His greatest joy came from time spent with family and friends, especially his pride and joy, his son Marky.
Lloyd worked various jobs throughout his life; he could do just about anything. He worked most recently for D & L Excavating, retiring due to poor health. Before that he worked for Vaughn Flesner Floors, where he got to travel the country working at various job sites.
Lloyd is survived by his daughter Jessica Murfin and her husband Peter of Macomb, IL, his son Marky (Lenz) Merker of Liberty. His sister, Nancy Peters and her husband Tony of Plainville; 5 brothers; John of Plainville; Leo, Jim and his wife Chris of Liberty, Mark of Camp Point and Paul and his wife Sonya of Quincy; and a sister-in-law, Sandy Wand and her husband Dick of rural Quincy. Nieces and nephews; Jeff Lenz and his wife Tina of Marblehead, Penny Whittaker and her husband Wayne of Plainville, Julie Ishmael and her husband Joseph of Oakford, Jason Peters and his wife Diana of Phoenix, AZ, Stacey Hoffman and her husband Chad of Camp Point, Eric Lenz and his wife Sara of Carthage, Michael Lenz and his wife Kim, Shanna Tipton and her husband Gerald, Danielle Will and her significant other Brian Hoener, Mandy Lenz all of Liberty, Joey Lenz and his wife Tara, and Jordan Lenz of Quincy. He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews, many close friends and extended family members.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents Gene and Antonine Lenz, and his brother Larry Lenz.
SERVICES: Cremation rights will be accorded; Friends and Family are invited to a Celebration of Lloyd’s life, Saturday April 29th from 4:00pm – 7:00pm at Liberty Park. Rain or Shine. Please come share memories of Lloyd and enjoy food and light refreshments with us.
MEMORIALS: Memorial Donations may be made to The Blessing Foundation C/O the Cancer Center in Lloyd’s name.
Lloyd’s family wishes to express our appreciation to the nurses and staff on 3N who gave him such care in his final hours. Special thanks to everyone at the Cancer Center, the Radiation Department and the Blessing Infusion Center. The love and care you gave him made a hard time much more tolerable.

Lloyd and his brother Jim were among the first persons that I recall meeting when we moved to Liberty in 1964. For the next 13 years there was a lot of fishing, baseball, ice skating, and just horsing around. Forty years have passed since I last saw Lloyd but those times will remain warm memories.
