Linda Sue McCarley

Linda Sue McCarley, age 64, of 1407 So. 24th Street, Quincy, died on Friday, August 19, 2011 in Blessing Hospital. She was born on September 12, 1946 in Harvey, Illinois, the daughter of Harry & Florence (Leach) Verway. She married Stephen Roscoe McCarley on November 26, 1993 in Prattville, Alabama. He survives.

Linda was a registered nurse. She worked for Shaw Clinic at Adams County Jail, Pike County Jail, Dee Dee Homes and Blessing Hospital. She retired in 2009 due to ill health.

Linda designed the nursing pin for her graduating class of 1993.

She was a member of the Crossing of Quincy.

Linda was an avid garage saler, she loved the bargains of the Quincy area. She also loved gardening and her plants.

In addition to her husband, survivors include: three sons, G. Scott Schmidt and Donnie Schmidt of Quincy along with Jerry Schmidt of Lincoln, IL; a daughter, Stacey Phillips of Quincy; 12 grandchildren, Richard, Jonathon, Scott, Lindsey, Darryl, Alexis, Jeff, Dylan, Jackson, and Taylor Schmidt all of Quincy and honorary grandchildren Troy & Cole; 4 great-grandchildren with another one due in April also survive.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Harry Verway and Gary Verway, and a grandson, Jeremy Schmidt.

A graveside service is scheduled for Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in Calvary Cemetery. No public visitation is planned but friends are invited to the graveside service. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
