Linda K. Smith

Linda K. Smith, age 67, of Quincy, died on Saturday, October 9, 2021 in Blessing Hospital. She was born on March 27, 1954 in Ottumwa, IA the daughter of Andrew & Ruthie Mae (Erickson) Steele. She married Ronald Smith, Sr. on October 6, 1973. He preceded her in death on October 1, 2019.

Linda was a CNA in the Quincy area for many years. She was a member of Union Baptist Church. Linda loved spending time with her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Many times they would all spend the night there with her. Linda loved watching scary movies and the kids had no choice but to watch them with her or go to sleep. She also loved playing cards, sitting outside on nice days and playing her Luther Vandros.

She is survived by:
TWO SONS: Ronald Smith, Jr. and Kevin Smith (Denise) all of Quincy.
GRANDCHILDREN: La’Keia Smith, Denesa Smith, Kayona Smith, Kevin Smith, Jr., Telicia Smith and Abbey Smith.
ONE BROTHER: Rolland Steele, Sr. (Sheila)
Numerous nieces including her special nieces Ken’Nya’La ‘Wooga’ Norwood and Jaleiyah Rice, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Audrey French.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Cecil Fletcher. Interment in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the time of the services at 1:00. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    We want to extend our sincere condolences to Linda’s family. While I know it’s difficult when we lose a loved one, she is free from pain. Rolland, RJ and Kevin we will pray that God gives you strength. Dalinda find comfort in the fact that she could not have had a more loyal person in her life.     I am so deeply sorry to hear of Linda’s passing. She was an amazing lady and I am so fortunate I got to spend (almost) every Tuesday morning with her for 8 years. She will be greatly missed!
