Lester West
Lester West, age 83, of Quincy, died Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Blessing Hospital. He was born October 20, 1938 in Quincy, the son of Sanford Emmet and Wava Lee Mullinex West. He married Marlene McEwen on March 19, 2022 and she survives.
Mr. West was a veteran of U.S. Air Force and a self-employed contractor, in home construction, for over 40 years. Prior to building homes, Lester was employed by Gates Radio and Motorola, both in Quincy. He was a member of Northside Businessmen’s Club and Quincy Elks Lodge #100. He also acquired his private pilot license and was an amateur radio operator.
He is also survived by two grandchildren, Amanda Daggett and Eric (wife, Devin) Daggett, all of Springfield; two great-grandchildren, Michaela and Erika Veihl, both of Quincy; half-brother, Dean of Arizona; step-children, Leanne (Larry) Smith of Columbia, MO, James (wife, Christine) and Tracy (Cristi) Broeker, all of Quincy; several nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Katherine; daughter, Deborah A. West Meyer; half-siblings, Don, Jackie, Loraine, Pearl, Opal, Bertha, Emmett, JB and Sterling.
A memorial visitation will be held 4:00 – 6:00 PM Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment will be at a later date in Greenmount Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Quincy Humane Society or Good Samaritan Home. Messages may be shared online at dukerandhaugh.com.

Marlene, I am completely confident that God has you surrounded by His comfort and love. I am blessed to have met Les , sat with him and enjoyed his company. I’m grateful he made my friend so happy and the Lord was in the mist of it all.
