Leroy M. Obert
Leroy M. Obert, age 93, of Quincy, IL, passed away on September 30, 2024 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on December 15, 1930 in Quincy, a son of Edward and Edith (Kamphaus) Obert. He married Dolores Hugenberg on October 8, 1960 in Quincy. She survives.
Leroy graduated from St. Francis Catholic Grade School and was a life long dairy farmer. Leroy was an avid Cardinal Baseball fan and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He still loved being on the tractor during the harvest. In younger years he was a very good bowler and horseshoe thrower. He greatly enjoyed following his grandchildren’s many activities.
In addition to his wife, Leroy is survived by his CHILDREN: Kevin Obert, Sr., of Fowler, IL, Eddie Obert of Quincy, IL, Vicky (Bill) Genenbacher of Camp Point, IL, Andrew (Melissa) Obert of Mendon, IL and Leanne (Cory) Knorr of Fowler, IL.
GRANDCHILDREN: Gus (Kim) Baugher, Kayla Obert, and Kevin (Kayla) Obert, Jr.; Lexi and Nicole Obert; Steven (Elizabeth) Manion, Ryan Manion, Tyler Obert, Cheyenne (Mikel) Wiley, Taylor Obert; Travis (Rob) Genenbacher, Dustin (Jenny) Genenbacher, Tanner (Karina) Genenbacher, Brey (Drew) Genenbacher; Piper and Aidan Obert; and Isabella Knorr.

A SISTER: Anna Mae Liggett. BROTHER-IN-LAW: Kenneth Wellman. SISTER-IN-LAW: Norma Jean Obert. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, two sons Wayne Obert and Anthony Obert in infancy and siblings: Irene Schreacke along with her husband Paul, Virgil Obert along with his wife Sis, Wilfred Obert along with his wife Florence, Kenneth Obert, Edward Obert, Dolly Schreacke along with her husband Lawrence, Betty Brinkman along with her husband James, Carlene Peters along with her husband Charlie, and Mary Louise Wellman. Leroy was also preceded in death by in-laws: Robert Liggett, Ben and Florence Hugenberg, Robert and Rosie Hugenberg, Kenneth and Patty Hugenberg, and Donnie and Sheila Hugenberg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 12:00 noon in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post #37 and the National Guard Honor Detail. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church until the time of Mass at noon. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
