LeRoy (Lee) Frank Fischer of 719 Cheshire, went home to Jesus, surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 27, 2017.

Lee was born on May 20, 1934 in Quincy to Roy and Alberta Druffel Fischer. He married Frances Janet Schmieder on August 22, 1959 in St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Washington Park, IL.

He graduated from Notre Dame High School. Lee proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War era. He received the National Defense Service Medal and Army of Occupation Medal.
Lee worked for Heintz Electric Co. for 47 years, retiring in 1999. Prior to his retirement, he had been general manager. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Francis Holy Name Society. He served on the Quincy Notre Dame Foundation and St. Francis Parish Board.

Lee had a passion for golf which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. When he wasn’t out at Spring Lake with his golfing buddies, he was out in the back yard chipping. Lee had 5 hole-in-ones during his life time, but his favorite was the one that his wife witnessed. Lee always enjoyed yard work and had one of the most immaculate lawns. His greatest joy came from time spent with family and friends, especially the love of his life Fran. In recent years, he looked forward to visits from his grandchildren.

Lee is survived by his wife Fran, of 57 years, son, Jim Fischer and his wife Carol of Batavia, IL, daughter Karen Fischer of St. Joseph, MO, son Greg Fischer and his wife Lynn of Littleton, CO and daughter Donna Fischer Faust and husband Kelly of Ballwin, MO. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren – Charlotte, Ben, Christian Fischer, Michael and Laura (West) Fischer and Laura Fischer, Oleg Fischer and Nick, Drew and Danny Faust.

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Alberta Fischer, his sisters Florence Terwelp and husband Herbert, Helen Miller and husband Bob and Mary Thompson and husband Floyd.
Lee’s family wishes to express our appreciation to Dr. Raymond Smith, Elexis and all the staff at the Cancer Center, and staff on 3 North at Blessing who gave him such good care in his final hours. Special thanks also to Sunset staff.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 11:30 am in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, officiated by Rev. Tom Donovan. Interment with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post #37 and the Macomb Military Funerals Detail in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-7 at St. Anthony Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to QND Foundation, St. Dominic School and Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
