Leroy J. ‘Butch’ Kroeger, Jr., age 80, of Quincy, died on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on August 1, 1941 in Quincy, the son of Leroy and Lois (Laird) Kroeger, Sr.

Leroy started working when he was 13 and worked hard until he was 78, never missing a day. He worked at Celotex, mostly in the maintenance department. After the company closed he worked at Blessing Hospital until he retired two years ago.

Leroy was of the Protestant Faith. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but nothing as much as sitting on the front porch with a cold Budweiser and listening to Cardinals Baseball. He also liked watching baseball and football on t.v. and walking his dogs.

He was kind,”old school” in a good way, and dearly loved by his family. Leroy was a true family man and worked very hard to provide for them. Leroy made sure that they always came first. His family relationships were very important, he also was very close to his brother, sisters, his cousin, Judy Sparks and his special niece Niki Schomshor.

He is survived by:
CHILDREN: Duke (Julie) Kroeger, Tina Kroeger and Bobbette Kroeger all of Quincy; Scott Kroeger of Portsmouth, VA.
GRANDCHILDREN: Brett, Rocky, Brittany, Michael, Cory, Brandi, Jessica, Zach, Lyndsey, and Shia.
17 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN.
SIBLINGS: Bill (Alice) Russell, Robert Kroeger, Laird ‘Poochie’ Kroeger.
BROTHER-IN-LAW: Robert James (Barbara) Walker, Sr. of Quincy.
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to his wife, Leroy was also preceded in death by parents, son Bill Kroger, a daughter Jennifer Kroeger and his siblings: Don Russell, Jeanette Sheehan and Kathy Kennedy.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Cremation rites will be accorded and a private inurnment at Greenmount Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Family.
