Leon R. Meyer

Leon R. Meyer, age 72, of Quincy, died on Saturday, December 7, 2024 in his home. He was born on October 18, 1952 in Dixon, IL the son of Elwood and Addie (Minnier) Meyer. He married Diane Leebold DeWitt on July 10, 1998. She survives.

Leon worked as a mechanic for Hadler International from 1977 to 1991 and then at Rick’s Transit Repair from 1991 until his retirement.

Leon was a lifetime member of the Twin Oaks Club. He loved hunting, snowplowing, and gardening. He enjoyed riding on his golf cart with his beloved dogs and camping with his wife. Leon lived his life to the fullest and was always ready to lend a helping hand.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by:
CHILDREN: Angela (Greg) Shelton; Michelle (Evan) Lish.
STEP-CHILDREN: Eric (Paula) DeWitt and Heather Marie DeWitt
GRANDCHILDREN: Quinton Shelton, Madison Meyer, Kobe Lish and Ava Lish.
STEP-GRANDCHILDREN: Aspen and Caitlyn
2 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN
SIBLINGS: Karen Van Drew and Gary Meyer
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Austin DeWitt.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Leon’s Life will take place at the Twin Oaks Club on January 4, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.

The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    Sympathy to Leon family.We will remember all the fun Christmas holiday’s back when we were younger.He was truly a good guy…will miss him.
