Leo John Lynn

Leo John Lynn, age 86, of the Illinois Veterans Home, formerly of 2649 Manor Hill Dr., died on Sunday, December 5, 2010 in the Illinois Veterans Home. He was born on March 21, 1924 in Pittston, PA the son of Martin J. & Elizabeth (Murphy) Lynn. He married Rosemary Loper on January 16, 1946 in Council Bluffs, IA. She survives. Mr. Lynn was a graduate of Creighton University and remained active in the Alumni Association. He served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. Leo was a Pharmacist at Walgreens for 44 years working in several areas including Quincy. After retiring he continued to work as a substitute traveling pharmacist for many institutions in both IL and MO until he was 80 years old. Mr. Lynn was on the original foundation board for the Blessing Hospice. He was also a member of the Elks and the Illinois Pharmacy Association.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by:
FIVE CHILDREN: Rosemary Hamann and her husand Ron of Quincy; John Lynn and his wife Charlene of Granite City, IL; Dan Lynn and his wife Nancy of Chicago; Eileen Lynn of Quincy and Kathleen Lynn also of Quincy.
TEN GRANDCHILDREN: Ryan Hamann and his wife Rebecca; Katie Hamann, John Robert Lynn and his wife Sarah, Teresa Simmons and her husband Wes, Joe Lynn and his wife Augustita, Sarah Lynn, Sheerine Bazagani; Michelle Geissler and her husband Alex, Victoria Lynn, and Rafael Valenzuela.
SEVEN GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Katelyn, Nathan, Zachary, Dylan, Gabriella, Aspen, and Anastasia.
ONE SISTER: Betty Nehilla and her husband Rudy
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents, a great-grandchild Secily, 2 brothers: Martin Lynn and Brother Godwin Patrick Lynn, and 2 sisters: Anne Rocktof and Mary Lynn in infancy.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 9:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 in the Church of St. Peter. Interment in Sunset Cemetery with military rites conducted at the cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 4:00 until 7:00 PM, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM. Memorials may be made to the Church of St. Peter, the American Heart Association or the Quincy Alzheimer’s Association.
