Lenore Tenhouse Vollmer
Lenore Tenhouse Vollmer, age 97, of the Good Samaritan Home, formerly of Liberty, died on Saturday, April 6, 2013 in the Good Samaritan Home. She was born on March 12, 1916 in Liberty, the daughter of Charles & Melvina (Murphy) Linker. She was a graduate of Golden High School. Lenore first married Edward Earl Tenhouse on February 25, 1936 in Golden, IL. He preceded her in death on January 17th, 1976. She later married Dr. Floyd A. Vollmer on June 12, 1988 in Liberty. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1996.
Lenore held various clerical jobs throughout the years. She was also a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Liberty. Lenore was a member of the Eastern Star, the Liberty Garden Club and the Illinois Jersey Cattle Club.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Good Samaritan Home for the wonderful care given to Lenore during these past years.
She is survived by:
FOUR CHILDREN: Dale Tenhouse and his wife Lois of Quincy; Terry Tenhouse and his wife Helen of Chapel Hill, NC; Gary Tenhouse and his wife Donna of Liberty and Georgia VanZandt and her husband James of Liberty.
STEP-SON: Ted Vollmer and his wife Linda of Wisconsin and
STEP-DAUGHTER: Phyllis Hofmeister and her husband Robert of Quincy
10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, 5 step-grandchildren, 5 step great-grandchildren, and 1 step great-great-grandchild along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive.
In addition to both of her husbands, Lenore was also preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the Zion Lutheran Church in Liberty, IL. Interment in Xander Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy. Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church or to the Good Samaritan Home.
We send our condolences on the death of your mother. She was an exceptional lady. We tried to get to the visitation but had doctor appointments and visited brother in hospital. Thinking of all of you.
