Lawrence ‘Larry’ Morcum
Lawrence ‘Larry’ Morcum, age 55, of Garden Grove Court, Quincy, died on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 in the Home. He was born on May 23, 1968 in Springfield, IL the son of Robert Morcum and Norma (Vaughn) Morcum.
Larry was a Christian. He enjoyed music and listening to his roommates talk and bicker at each other. Larry liked Cardinal Baseball. He also liked car rides. He enjoyed eating and his caregivers found a way to keep giving him his chocolate cake, starbursts and M&M’s.
Larry was sent here to touch our hearts with a smile, a look or even a tear or two. He touched every heart he met. Everyone’s life is changed in one way or another. Larry’s work was to be happy and eat when they gave it or sometimes he took it and got in trouble. Larry liked to take a walk every once in awhile and keep everyone on their toes. He had a wonderful life and now it’s time for Larry to be with the Lord and his mom and dad. They were all waiting for him, and he is now dancing in the sky. Larry will be missed by all, was loved by all and he loved everyone back.
Larry lived with his ‘second’ family at Briarwood Court and also Garden Grove Court. They loved and cared for him very much.
Larry is survived by:
SIBLINGS: Edward Curley and his wife Donna, Tina Ray and her companion Rick Hoener, Troy Curley and his companion Barb, Mary Hathaway and her husband David, Myrtle Northrup and her companion Dan Hoener and Randy Morcum.
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives also survive.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings: Joseph Morcum, Robby Hagerty, Glen Curley and Kathy Gravitt.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 1:00 PM in Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry, IL. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy. Memorials may be made to Garden Grove Court, Briarwood Court or Lighthouse Baptist Church. Duker and Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
I was so sorry to hear this. While I love all the individuals I work with, Larry was one of the ones I particularly enjoyed being with.
He was such a joy to work with we walked down Main Street many an evening so he wouldn’t walk on the wet floor. I recall those silent tears and in his own words “poor baby” I was so blessed to have been touched by you.
