Lawrence ‘Larry’ Luker

Lawrence Gene ‘Larry’ Luker, age 77, of Quincy, Il died on Friday, September 22, 2017 in Timber Point Healthcare Center. He was born on September 3, 1940 in Quincy, IL the son of Charles and Leona (Smith) Luker. He graduated from Quincy High School in 1958. He married Wanda L. Gillum on November 8, 1959 in Palmyra, MO. She survives. Mr. Luker was an insurance agent for Farmers Insurance Group for many years. After his retirement from insurance, he became a truck driver for Gully Transportation. Larry loved his faithful canine companion, ‘Sammie’. He also enjoyed tractor Pulling and bowling. He was also a member of Vermont Street Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by:
TWO CHILDREN: Pam Chandler and her husband Rich of Fayetteville, NC and Randy Luker and his wife Stacy of Quincy.
GRANDCHILDREN: Gregory Luker of Springfield, IL; SSG Brendon Luker of
FT Drum, NY; Brittany Hanlin and her husband Jesse of Canton, MO; LCPL Hunter Luker of Honolulu, HI; and Elise Luker of Quincy.
GREAT-GRANDCHILD: Hannah Katherine Hanlin

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Frances Leerhoff.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday morning from 8:30 AM until the time of the services at 10:00. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to the Blessing Cancer Center. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    Pam, Brittany and family I was so very sorry to learn of Larry’s passing. Know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers at this very painful and difficult time of Great Loss. I regret I’ll not be able to attend the funeral because of a prior commitment. God Bless!
