Lawrence (Larry) A. Wavering Jr.

Lawrence (Larry) A. Wavering Jr. age 86 of 1700 North 36th Street Quincy died on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 5:00 a.m. in his home. Larry was born April 15, 1926 in Quincy, a son of Lawrence A. and Agnes (Freiburg) Wavering. He married Anita Will on November 11, 1950 in Quincy’s St. Francis Catholic Church. She preceded him in death in 1995. Larry married
Maxine (Kroeger) Devlin on April 29, 2000 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Palmyra, MO. She survives.

Larry was a General Foreman at Gardner Denver’s Walton Plant, retiring after 39 years with the company.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and was a lifelong member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Larry enjoyed working on mechanical problems, and going on family camping and fishing outings.

In addition to his wife Maxine, survivors include:
His children: Steve Wavering and his wife Lynn of Quincy; Jeff Wavering and his wife Julie of Rockford, IL; Linda Willing and her husband Larry; and Susan Bergman and her husband Dave all of Quincy.
Grandchildren: Jay (Christy) Wavering, Curt (Julie) Wavering, Emily (Rob) Kistner, Pamela (John) Kowalski, Laura Wavering, Nancy (Dan) Ingve, April (Trevor) Friye, Amanda (John) Howard and Alexis Bergman;
Great-Grandchildren: Clara and Lola Wavering, Eloise Kistner, Ella and Lily Ingve and Kale Friye.
Six Step-Children and their spouses, sixteen Step-Grandchildren and eighteen Step Great-Grandchildren.
Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Anita; siblings, Mabel, John, Alvin and Wilfred Wavering and Leota (Sis) Friye.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Catholic Church, by the Rev. Donald Blaeser. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m in the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the St. Francis Church Parish Center or to Blessing HOSPICE. www.dukerandhaugh.com
