Lawrence “Larry” A. Sparks

Lawrence “Larry” A. Sparks, age 75, of 2224 Adams, died on Wednesday, May 4. 2011 in his home. He was born on March 12, 1936 in Beverly Township, IL, a son of John & Sylvia (Diehl) Sparks. He married Judith “Judy” Laird on October 1, 1960 in Grace United Methodist Church. She survives.

Larry served in the United States Army. He was a truck driver for GH Bemis/Sisbro for thirty-four years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of Union United Methodist Church. Larry loved to play solitaire. He liked going to the casino with his friends, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children & grandkids.

In addition to his wife, Judy, he is also survived by:
THREE CHILDREN: Gregory Sparks and his wife Karen of Pleasant Plains, IL, Randall Sparks and his wife Stacie of Quincy, and Laura Hampsmire and her husband Gary of Fowler, IL
GRANDCHILDREN: Nathan & Amanda Sparks of Pleasant Plains, IL
ONE AUNT: Veda Laird of Quincy, numerous nieces & nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four Brothers Vernon, Dale, Kenneth & Robert Sparks; two Sisters, Iola Bader & Della Sparks.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert Morwell. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 8, 2011 from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Blessing Foundation for HOSPICE or to the Union United Methodist Church.

    We are sorry for your loss be of good cheer he is probably sharing all his jokes with the rest of the family. I bet him and mom started arguing a little after he got there. God Bless
