LaVerne C. Benton
LaVerne C. Benton, age 83, of 525 Edgewood Dr., Quincy, died on Monday, November 23, 2015 in Blessing Hospital. She was born on June 16, 1932 in Memphis, TN, the daughter of Dave & Lottie (Pratt) Osborne. LaVerne worked as a dietician at the Frederick Ball Day Care Center. She was a member of 1st Baptist Church. LaVerne loved children. She was completely family oriented in all that she did. She also encouraged everyone to seek God in their lives.
She is survived by:
SEVEN CHILDREN: Marva Henderson of Quincy; Michael Osborne and his wife Jackie of Quincy; Brenda Osborne of Seattle, WA; Luretha Rudd and her husband Stanley of Quincy; Angela Jackson and her husband Bruce of Seattle, WA; Kelvin Osborne of Quincy and Herman Osborne also of Quincy.
TWENTY NINE GRANDCHILDREN, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren along with TWO SISTERS-IN-LAW: Genevia Osborne and Laverne Osborne, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters: Loretta “Little Red” Osborne and Linda Anders; Five brothers: James, David, Anthony, Johnny and Donald Osborne and two sisters: Rev. Margaret Williams and Doris Washington.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 30, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the 1st Baptist Church. Interment in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
