Laveda Mason

Laveda Irene Mason, age 73, of Quincy, formerly of Moberly, MO, died on Saturday, February 25, 2023, in Blessing Hospital. She was born on August 4, 1949, in Moberly, MO, the daughter of William “Bill” Justus and Mary (Prewitt) Justus. Laveda married Alfred Mason on July 30, 1990, in Quincy, IL. He survives.

Laveda was a graduate of Moberly High School.

Laveda favorite thing to do was going to services at the House of Prayer Church and attending the Women’s Group meetings. She also enjoyed playing cards, laughing and being with her family and friends.

Laveda is survived by her husband, their children: Angela (Aurora) Washburn, Shari Williams, Colita Hawkins, and Josh Hawkins all of Quincy; a sister, Dora Dennis of Higbee, MO.
Grandchildren: Justin (Amanda) Hawkins, Skyler (Amberly) Forrest, La’Kesha Hawkins, Jasmine Forrest, Jami Sanders, Jacob Anders, and Nathanial Miller all of Quincy, Alexis Miller of Peoria, IL, Danika Miller, Aiyana Miller, Cayleb Hawkins all of Quincy; numerous great grandchildren and other relatives also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Ed and Bill, Dabney, and Harry a sister Anna, a granddaughter, Emily Hawkins and great grandson, Za’mar Moon-Ducksworth.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 2, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment will be in Sunset Cemetery at the Illinois Veteran’s Home Quincy. Visitation will be Thursday morning from 9:00 until the time of services at 10:00 a.m. at Duker & Haugh. Memorials are suggested to the family. Messages may be shared online at www.dukerandhaugh.com

    Sorry for your loss. She was a great lady and like a second Mom or crazy Aunt to many of us that knew her. Glad I got the opportunity to know her. Thoughts with all of your in your hour of loss.
