Larry R. Brooks, Sr.
Larry R. Brooks, Sr., age 72, of Pittsfield, formerly of Quincy, died on Monday, January 11, 2021 in Blessing Hospital. Larry was born on April 4, 1948 in Quincy, the son of Kenneth R. Brooks, Sr. and Julia Douglas. He was raised by Clyde and Fannie Bowen.
Larry had worked at Quincy Compressor, Manchester Tank and most recently for the Quincy Park District at the Marina, until he retired due to health reasons.
He loved the outdoors, especially fishing. Larry liked working with his hands and fixing things. As he grew older, he really appreciated time with his children and grandchildren. He had a hearty appetite and loved a good, big meal. Never having a driver’s license, Larry stayed active walking everywhere and taking unconventional paths to his destinations.
Larry is survived by his children: Larry R. Brooks, Jr. of Quincy, Julia M. Brooks of Quincy and Anna (Corey) Berry-Carter of Louisville, MS.
Twelve Grandchildren and ten Great grandchildren.
Siblings: Laura Jean (Larry) Smith, Kenny Brooks, Jr., Karen Brooks, Tuffy Brooks, Lady Brooks, Tony Brooks, William and Darlene Bowen, Connie (Les) Fonza, Regina Bowen, Henry (Jackie) Bowen, Hope Warren, Carl and Peggy Bowen and Jackie Bowen. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Kenny Brooks, Jr and son-in-law, Jermaine Williams.
