Kris Alan Horton
Kris Alan Horton age 37, of 1174 East 2200th St. Liberty, died on Friday, August 23, 2013 in Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO. He was born May 31, 1976 in Centerville, IA, a son of Gene and Sue (Wright) Horton.
Kris had recently been working at the Illinois Veteran’s Home as a CNA. He graduated from the John Wood Community College CNA program second in his class academically, and he was voted Most Compassionate by his fellow students. He had previously worked at Gene’s Transmission’s, Impact Classics and Aqua Tech Marine.
Kris was a 1994 graduate of Liberty High School. He was a fan of the New England Patriots, and he loved playing and following baseball. He had many interests including playing pool, 4 wheeling, drag racing and target shooting. He loved his kids, and spending time with them having fun and playing video games.
Survivors include his parents, Gene and Sue of Liberty; his children, Garret Elliott, Bradley, Wesley and Gauge Horton all of Quincy;
A brother, Ryan Horton and his fiancee of Columbus, IL; a nephew Reece Horton;
His companion, Desiree Halemeyer an d her children, Alyssa and Deven all of Hannibal.
Many aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
Kris was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by Kris’s uncle, Rev. Robert Young. Interment will be in Xander Cemetery, Liberty. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Kris Horton Memorial Fund. www.dukerandhaugh.com
Good friends since childhood will be greatly missed and always remembered. Sorry Sue, Gene, Desiree and Ryan for this terrible loss, I can’t seem to find the right words for the emotions I am feeling. I guess that is just part of being a man, we have a hard time with our feelings especially putting it into words. I can only say that I truly loved this man and his family.

I got hired on with Kris at the Illinois Veterans Home…..Kris had a heart of gold and those who met him he left a great impression on…I will never forget his compassion for the residents and his great sense of humor….He will be greatly missed!!!!

To Kris’s family I am truly sorry for your loss. I worked with Kris a few days before and he was one of my best VNAC’s I have ever worked with. He talked so intently of his kids and Desiree, he talked so highly of you and your children and loved you so very much. He is greatly missed and my heart is just broken for you all. He will never be forgotten.

Kris…. You will be missed by many. Always enjoyed talking Drag Racing and will never forget the racing we did in my Chevelle. See you at the finish line brother.
