Some accomplishments that Konni was particularly proud of were that she graduated from the Halton Business Institute in Burlington, Ontario, and that she was once the proud owner and operater of the cafeteria in the Milton Courthouse. Her daughter Michelle and her high school friends would go to the cafeteria for lunch and enjoy the delicious sandwiches, soup, and decadent Nanaimo bars that Konni served there. She carried on the German cooking traditions learned from her mom, “Mommyoma” and loved preparing German cuisine for her family, and baking her wonderful Christmas sugar cookies. She was particularly proud of her son’s achievements in hockey, and loved taking him to his hockey games and practices. She always said her son and daughter were the two greatest things she did in life, and she showed that in the many ways she spoiled them!

Konni loved to collect porcelain dolls and teddy bears. She also loved Keith Urban and joining in with others on Facebook, in many Buy/Sell/Trade groups. She was a big fan of the Toronto Maples Leafs and inherited a love for the Chicago Cubs when she met her husband, James. Her beloved dogs, Sadie, Mini and Zoey were her favorite canine companions.

In addition to her husband James, survivors include her two children, daughter, Michelle Shortt and her fiancé Joshua White of Augusta, IL and a son Christopher Shortt of Georgetown, Ontario. Other survivors—–Her two brothers, her Tante Elfi, two nephews and many cousins all whom reside in Canada and Germany. Her mother and father-in-law Jim and Mary-Ellen Pioch, Sr. of Geneva, IL and two sisters-in-law, Marci Vose of Oswego, IL and Marianne Pioch of Geneva, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and Robert Dale McMurray, who is her daughter Michelle’s dad.

Whenever I saw Konni she always had a smile on her face. Her sharp wit and sense of humor made her a joy to be around. Jill and I are very sorry for your loss and will have nothing, but fond memories of Konni.
